“What would we have to change in order to reach and retain the next 50 people God wants to send us?”
From Raising the Roof, Alice Mann, The Alban Institute: 2001, p. 103
We focus on ways to maintain and build a stronger congregation, from welcoming newcomers to nourishing and shepherding current members. We have quarterly seminars sponsored by the presbytery and meet as a small group as needed every other month.
Some recent project include: website changes, new church signage/banners, photo album of current members and Friendship Sunday. We hold Friendship Sunday each September to celebrate the start of Sunday school for all ages. We also make is a special day to invite friends, neighbors, co-workers to join in education, worship and the BBQ lunch after service. Next 50 mailed personal invitations to recent visitors, coordinated food for the BBQ and placed advertisement about the event in the neighborhood paper. The group often functions similar to what other churches call Outreach, Evangelism, or Hospitality. Next 50 and the Deacons often work together on activities.
