Elected by the congregation, this is a group of up to nine church members that meets monthly and makes most of the big decisions for the church. Decisions can include issues regarding finance and budgeting, to personnel to capital improvements. The pastor moderates the session and session meetings. Every year three people are elected to replace the ‘graduating’ class.
A term on Session is three years with the option of serving up to six consecutive years. Session members are elected during a congregational meeting sometimes at the annual meeting in January. When you are elected to session you become…no matter what your age….an ‘elder’ of the church.
